Moda Block Heads 4 - Block 26 Plus a Collection of Catch-Ups
This week I have six blocks for you!! Catching up has been lots of fun and I hope it inspires you to take a second look at all of the Moda Block Heads 4 blocks for this year!
Block 26 is the current BH4 block - Postage Stamp. It's a geometric joy that turns almost inside out when different shades of fabrics are used. The first one I have for you is in my Yukata collection. I love how the focal print pops in this version!
The Kawa version, though, has a smooth, blended feel with the Indigos and Rusts tossing and turning together. Putting together fabric combinations for quilting is so exciting! Postage Stamp was designed by Corey Yoder of Coriander Quilts. You can follow Corey on Instagram @corianderquilts and you'll find the instructions for her wonderful block on her blog - click here.
So now we're off to the collection of catch-up blocks for this week. Four of them and since you've already seen them in Kawa, they're all stitched in Yukata! Let's start with Block 5, Greek Cross, designed by the talented Barbara Groves of Me and My Sister Designs. You can follow the sisters on Instagram - @meandmysisterdesigns. And, you'll find the instructions for this lovely design on Moda's blog by clicking here.
Block 6, Spinning into Spring, was designed by Linzee Kull McCray. It's such a striking design! I love how it turned out stitched in several shades of Yukata's Indigos, off-set with Ivory. You'll find Linzee on Instagram - @seamswrite. Click here to download the instructions for her fun block on Moda's BH4 Archives.
Now onto a couple of Bonus Blocks! Moda has such a great understanding of those of us who quilt, that they've thoughtfully included extra "bonus" blocks as part of Block Heads 4. It expands the opportunity for quilt design right into infinity! The first one I have for you this week is Bonus Block 2, Mix and Match designed by Michelle White of Moda Fabrics. Michelle used the simplicity of squares and rectangles to create an amazingly attractive block! Click right here to download instructions for Michelle's enjoyable block. You can also follow Michelle on Instagram @michellemakes
And, finally Bonus Block 3, Star Turn, also in Yukata. Designed by Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings, where I just visited and taught Shibori at a retreat. Lisa is an incredibly creative designer and I love how she incorporated a nine patch into this traditional star design. So many possibilities here! If you need an extra block for your BH4 quilt, Lisa's block would be perfect for using up scraps. You'll find Lisa on Instagram @lisabongean and the instructions for her Bonus Block on her blog - click here.
You can read more about my time with Lisa and her dedication to honoring veterans in my recent post, Primitive Gatherings, Shibori & Motorcycles - click here. Yes, that's Lisa on that motorcycle and you're going to love reading about her in my post!
